If you’re like me, I always like to know how things are made. Well, today’s post is about just that! I’m bringing you behind-the-scene of Mtl Vlog.

But before we jump into the details of how things are made, I would like to share a bit of this channel’s history. It all started in Fall 2014 when I decided it was time for me to start sharing my Real Estate knowledge through videos. I wasn’t sure how to do it or if I would even do it.

What could I possibly share that would be of value to people interested in Real Estate? And how could I make it not so boring that people actually like to watch it 🙂 !

I dwelled on those thoughts for about 3-4 months. Coming back to it. Jotting down ideas. Thinking about it. And the New Year came along. You know what it is. A New Year equals New Year’s Resolutions and I told myself, ‘You’re never gonna finish something if you don’t start it in the first place!’

It took me a bit (a lot) of courage. I don’t know why, but sitting in front of a camera all by myself felt very unnatural, even stupid at some point. It’s one of those moments you actually ask yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?’ And my God, what about editing myself on the computer? Ahahahah! Moment of truth and introspection time!

It also took me a fair amount of trial and error to know how to share it on social medias and not be overly agressive or intrusive. (I even got kicked out of a Realtors Facebook Group because one administrator didn’t like my videos!)

But here we are a year and a half later with 120 videos online and more than 6,000 views and more 12,000 on Facebook!

So, here’s my overal process from start to finish:

  1. Research online valuable content. What could actually interest my audience?
  2. Write that content & format that content in a visually attractive way
  3. Shoot my videos
  4. Edit my videos
  5. Publish my videos

For time management reasons, it’s really easier to do each step in batches. So, one day, I’ll sit down at my computer and research my topics of interest and the other day, I gulp down 8 cups of tea and write it all up!

If that interests you, here’s a behind-the-scene of a shoot day that I just did last week for the weeks to come.

All of this takes time since I really try to make it interesting. So, let me know if there’s anything you would like to see on Mtl Vlog. After all, you’re the ones I’m doing it for…
